On Monday January 8 at 9:00 a.m. the Tallahassee Development Review Committee (DRC) will address three projects – get the details.

One Tallahassee man was found guilty of attempted manslaughter in connection to a shooting incident that took place inside of a McDonald’s back in June 2022. Dominick Mcbride was found guilty last week of attempted manslaughter by act with a firearm and carrying a concealed firearm after a two-day trial.

There were two shootings that took place Monday night. The first led to a man being found dead in the front yard of a home on Keith Street near Lake Bradford Road. Hours later, another man was found dead inside his apartment off of Mission Road. The homicides are not related incidents.

FLORIDA NEWS

Agriculture Commissioner Wilton Simpson announced the safeguarding of more than 2,000 acres of Florida ranchland through the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services’ Rural and Family Lands Protection Program.

Florida Congressman Matt Gaetz and Florida Sen. Marco have endorsed Leon County GOP Chair Evan Power to be the next RPOF Chair. Power announced Tuesday he would run for the position as current Chair Christian Ziegler is involved in a sexual assault investigation. Power currently serves as the RPOF Vice Chair.

A watchdog group that has already filed several complaints against Gov. Ron DeSantis is now alleging that the Florida Republican and a super PAC aiding his presidential bid violated federal campaign finance laws. Never Back Down has used its resources to pay for a ground operation in the crucial state of Iowa and has routinely hosted events with DeSantis — a move that some suggested tested the legal limits.

  1. I had a garage sale last weekend and a lady from Miami was in Tallahassee from Miami. It was sad to hear her share that she felt safer in Miami than Tallahassee. She shared that where were so many homeless people here vs Miami. I asked why did she think that was so and she shared Dade county is ran by Republicans and Tallahassee is ran by democrats. If you are a Democrat in tallahassee and you are not happy with all the homeless people and panhandle look no fighter than yourself and your voting tendencies.

  2. For the record – broken as it may be – there is no such thing as “gun” violence or “gun” crime. A gun is an inanimate object completely incapable of committing a crime or violent act of its own volition. It is the person who commits the crime or violent act that is 100% responsible… NOT their weapon of choice.

When these Marxist Democrat nut jobs start using terms like “knife, baseball bat, screwdriver, golf club, rope, hammer, vehicle, bare hand, et al” violence… then we’ll talk.

As always, you will never solve a problem you’re unwilling to recognize.

  3. BTW, is JetBlue still starting service in January? How about the jet maintenance business? Or the airline junk yard business. How about some updates.

  4. Note to all politicians, local and otherwise.

Neither your self importance, nor success, is based on how much of the citizens’ money you spend. You are NOT rulers, you are elected representatives.

Start representing the people that pay the bills, and your salary!

  5. Why would Matt Gaetz endorse Evan Power for RPOF Chair? Evan Power was unable to recruit one single candidate or get Republicans elected. Power did help non- Republicans get elected in Tallahassee and Leon County.

This should disqualify Power from the position. Florida Republicans can do better.

  6. Dailey, Williams-Cox and Curtis Richardson have distanced themselves from Matlow and Porter by supporting the 2023 property tax and CSC tax increases, $1.8 million for Bugra Demirel somo Blueprint giveaway, $20 million for stadium, overturning northeast neighborhoods for Ghazvini benefit, Maddox appointing Reese Goad, bad $130m Welaunee Gateway worsening NE overdevelopment. Progressives have been far more mainstream on these key issues. Hard for conservatives to defend insider 3 record

  7. Tallahassee’s three weeks without a gun crime ended yesterday with two separate shooting incidents. My advice to all the powers to be: what you’re doing isn’t working and stop telling people it is.
