FSU Preview: Florida State vs. Georgia

FSU Preview: Florida State vs. Georgia

On Saturday at 4 p.m. the Seminoles will be in Miami Gardens to play Georgia in the Orange Bowl.

The SEC East champion Georgia Bulldogs are 12-1 on the season.

FSU is 4-6-1 versus UGA in the series all time.

Observations from the last game

The ‘Noles are back on top of the ACC!

The defense was incredible and saved their best for when the team needed it most. The defense played fast, physical and decisive and everyone was where they needed to be on every play. Defensive tackle Braden Fiske was a monster, finishing the game with 9 tackles and 3 sacks. Jared Verse, Tatum Bethune and Renardo Green had phenomenal games as well.

“The College Football Invitational” and the ACC

The majority of the college football world was baffled and shocked that an undefeated power 5 team was left out of the playoff in favor of 2 one loss teams. The media members defending the biggest atrocity in college football in years are saying that FSU didn’t play a tough enough schedule and that Alabama and Texas would blow FSU out. The committee ranks all the teams so in turn they decided Florida State strength of schedule. I think Alabama is a slightly better team than FSU, but I think the ‘Noles would beat Texas and Washington. Of course, the real reason was money and viewers, which is still a lame excuse as FSU was the 7th most watched team.

On 12/22 FSU started the process of leaving the ACC and filed a lawsuit to try to get out of the Grant of Rights before 2036. The university might not be able to get it done but they have to try because the SEC and Big 10 members make at least $50 million a year more than ACC schools from TV deals.

Recruiting and transfer portal

Norvell and his staff put together the 9th best recruiting class. The ‘Noles have lost several players to the portal but I expect the staff to pick up another haul of transfers.

Florida State offense versus Georgia defense

Brock Glenn will be making his second straight start at quarterback. The freshman struggled against Louisville but didn’t cost his team with a big mistake. I expect him to play better and hopefully the stats reflect it. Running back Caziah Holmes, tight end Kyle Morlock and the young receivers need to step to help their quarterback. The entire offensive line is scheduled to play, which should help immensely. UGA players to watch: DBs Javon Bullard and Kamari Lassister.

Florida State defense versus Georgia offense

Quarterback Carson Beck (3,738 yards passing and 22 touchdowns) and the big and athletic offensive line pose a major threat to the Seminoles. The defensive line needs to have a big impact to slow the Georgia offense.

Special Teams

Advantage: FSU

Prediction

Both teams will be without 20+ players from their last game. More frontline players are out for FSU including the top 2 QBs so I’m giving the advantage to UGA. Florida State 13 Georgia 28.

I would like to take this moment to throw shade on the rumors that Chief Osceola and Renegade both entered the Portal.
It is not true. PERIOD END OF STORY:
Just to be on the safe side I’ve got pending contracts with Sammy Seminole to bring him back into the stadium down there in Miami Gardens on a 24 hour notice. Sammy’s old but he still looks good and can run out on the field like a really fit 67 year old man and render an excellant “FSU ONE TIME – FSU TWO TIMES – FSU THREE TIMES – FSU ALL THE D@MN TIME cheer just like its 1967 !!!!
    Deja Vu All Over Again.
    Thanks again. Snyd
