Some members of the Florida A&M University community say they’re planning strategies – including economic boycotts – to express their frustration about the selection of Marva Johnson as FAMU’s 13th president.

Leon County Government, the City of Tallahassee, Elmington Capital, and community partners held a ribbon cutting ceremony celebrating the opening of Ridge Road Flats, a new 250-unit affordable housing apartment community, on Wednesday, May 21, at 1 p.m. at 795 Ridge Road. The event included a program with local officials and tours of the new facility.

TPD Report on Shooting Incident: On May 23, at approximately 1:04 a.m., TPD officers responded to the area of Whitehall Street and Call Street. Upon arrival, officers were flagged down by security advising that an adult male had been shot in the buttocks. The victim was transported to a local hospital and was determined to have non-life-threatening injuries. The preliminary investigation revealed that multiple rounds were fired during the shooting. Three vehicles were struck, as well as two nearby apartments. At this time, there are no suspects, and no arrests have been made. Anyone with information is asked to contact TPD.
