TMH Announces New Executive Leadership Structure

Effective June 1, Tallahassee Memorial HealthCare (TMH) has established a new executive leadership structure that reflects a transformation from a single hospital into a comprehensive, regionally focused health system.

The press release notes that this “strategic change will ensure TMH continues to provide access to high-quality healthcare services to meet the evolving needs of the communities it serves.”

Mark O’Bryant will continue to serve as Chief Executive Officer of Tallahassee Memorial HealthCare, Inc., the parent company overseeing the multiple enterprises under a corporate structure. He will continue to provide organizational oversight and strategic direction for all the business entities and ventures within TMH’s growing system.

Ryan Smith will serve as President and Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Tallahassee Memorial Hospital where he will oversee all operational responsibilities in the Tallahassee market. He first joined TMH 16 years ago as a nurse in the Bixler Trauma and Emergency Center and has held a number of leadership roles including Urgent Care Center Nurse Manager, Direct of Patient Flow/Nursing Operations, and most recently, Vice President and Chief Clinical Officer.

The release stated that “Smith’s deep expertise in operations and commitment to excellence make him the ideal leader to guide the future of Tallahassee Memorial Hospital.”

Andrew Starr will advance to the role of President of the West Market, responsible for managing the construction, development, and future operations of FSU Health Panama City Beach Hospital. He came to TMH in 2020 as Vice President & Chief Health Operations Officer with more than 20 years of healthcare leadership experience.

  1. Florida is a rehearsal; D.C. is the main stage. Political alignment masks systemic overhaul. DeSantis is the facade; the architect is faceless, embedded, already building. Nothing can stop what is coming. Pay attention.

  2. A change in leadership? That would be removing Mark O’Bryant. The BOD talks about change how about making the hard change

  3. I do not know Mark O’Bryant personally, but it appears that the Executive Leadership change is a move in the right direction for the TMH and our future health care.
Watch and see who benefits personally from this change and identify those who truly have our community health care welfare as their primary motivation (and those who don’t).
This appears to be a move in the right direction.
We should know that soon enough.

  4. S.O.S. Medical doctors run the departments and the hospital at Mayo Clinic and Cleveland Clinic. At least Free Shoes University isn’t running it.
