TR POLL: Would you support a property tax increase to fund Leon County Schools?

On Monday, the local owners of the HTeaO franchise notified the Tallahassee community – via the Tallahassee Foodies Facebook group – that the business was closing effectively immediately.

Seven months into 2025, crime incident data published daily by the Tallahassee Police Department shows that total crime incidents have declined by 35.4% when compared to incident data from January thru July in 2024. The drop was driven by a 54.6% decline in commercial burglaries.

The latest information from the Tallahassee International Airport shows the June 2025 passenger traffic decreased 8.5% when compared to traffic one year ago.

FLORIDA NEWS

While saying it has reduced Florida auto-insurance rates twice, Progressive insurance reported Monday that it could top a state limit on profits. In a quarterly financial report, Progressive said its business has been bolstered in Florida by legislation that helped reduce lawsuits against insurers.

Backers of proposed constitutional amendments and voting-rights groups are appealing after a federal district judge last month refused to block parts of a new Florida law that placed additional restrictions on the state’s ballot-initiative process.

NATIONAL NEWS

The Texas House yesterday issued civil arrest warrants to force the return of Democratic lawmakers who left the state and blocked a vote on a Republican-led redistricting plan. Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (R) said the absent lawmakers had forfeited their seats and warned he would begin efforts to remove them from office if they didn’t return. The warrants can only be enforced within Texas.

  1. I do not want to hear how there’s no room to cut city or county budgets when I see city/county staff driving around in brand new EV F-150’s or Silverado’s. Those have to be $60K a pop.

  2. NO, I would NOT support a property tax increase to fund Leon County Schools? Like the other Local Governments, they too need to STOP WASTING their Money.
