The Tallahassee Police Department reported a sexual battery incident in the 1400 block of Market Street in northeast Tallahassee. The incident took place around 9:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 11. This is the only official information available at this time.
Sources have told TR that a suspect was arrested on Friday afternoon.
On Friday afternoon, Market District TLH, a business association, released the following statement:
Last night around 8:30 PM, Tallahassee Police Department (TPD) informed us that there was a break-in at a Market District business and an assault occurred. Such incidents are extremely rare for our area. We take this matter very seriously and want to assure our community that the Market District Association is working directly with TPD to review patrol schedules and explore additional safety measures In the meantime, we encourage everyone to remain aware of their surroundings and enjoy our community safely. Our district remains a safe and welcoming destination, and we will continue working with law enforcement and our members to ensure it stays that way.
The incident comes days after a stabbing at Cascades Park.
