LOCAL NEWS

Tallahassee is confronting a new reality: Open carrying a pistol or even a rifle is now legal in many public spaces. Open carry is now legal inside our libraries, parks and even most areas of City Hall.

A Leon County teacher was arrested on sexual misconduct charges involving a minor.

LOCAL SPORTS

The Chiles Timberwolves (26-1) volleyball team defeated the Lincoln Trojans (13-10) on Thursday night in the 5A District 2 final to capture their fourth consecutive district title. The Timberwolves won in dominating fashion, 25-8, 25-6, 25-9. The Wolves were led by Lindsay Smith (12 kills) and Eva Goodson (11 kills).

The Florida High Seminoles (19-5) defeated Marianna (10-13), 25-15, 25-19, 25-11, to win the 3A District 2 title. Stats were not available.

This Saturday at 10:30 pm the Seminoles will take on the Stanford Cardinal in Palo Alto, California.

FLORIDA NEWS

A Florida Republican on Thursday re-filed a bill from last year requiring all private employers to use a federal database verifying whether new hires are legally in the country.

The Florida House on Thursday rolled out a series of proposed constitutional amendments to cut property taxes, while looking to shield funding for schools and law enforcement.

NATIONAL NEWS

A federal grand jury in Maryland indicted former national security adviser John Bolton on 18 counts yesterday over his handling of classified information. Bolton is expected to surrender to authorities as soon as today.

President Donald Trump says he will meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Budapest in the coming weeks; announcement comes after the leaders engage in a roughly two-hour phone call ahead of Trump’s meeting today with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy (More).

US stock markets close down (S&P 500 -0.6%, Dow -0.7%, Nasdaq -0.5%) over concerns of loan losses at regional banks (More).

  1. Dee – the release of Epstein’s flight logs show that Trump never went to Epstein’s island. A lot of big names did, highlighted by Clinton’s more than 2 dozen trips!
