A man has been arrested for a fatal shooting Wednesday around lunchtime on the west side. Leon County deputies say the victim was found in his car in the road along the 5700 block of Aenon Church Trail.

The Leon County Commission is sending its lobbyists to ask Congress and the Florida legislature to enact stricter gun reform measures, and they’re preemptively endorsing a proposal from the Florida Attorney General on “Missy’s Law.”

A federal judge yesterday suggested she will order the Agriculture Department to tap emergency funds for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program. Funding for the program, colloquially referred to as food stamps, is poised to lapse tomorrow for the first time since its creation in 1964 amid the federal government shutdown.

  1. A federal judge does not have the authority to order any agency to spend money not specifically allocated for the purpose that the judge is impacting. Maybe she should try ordering the Democrats in Congress to agree to a spending bill. Not a lot of difference there….
