The Tallahassee Police Department is currently conducting a homicide investigation following a call for service at approximately 8:10 p.m., in the 1300 block of Nylic Street. When officers arrived on scene, they located one adult victim suffering from a suspected gunshot wound. The victim was pronounced deceased by Emergency Medical Service (EMS) personnel on scene.

Average gasoline prices remained below $3 a gallon in Florida during the past week, as the national average ticked down.

Orange County Mayor Jerry Demings has opened a campaign account to run for governor in 2026, according to the state Division of Elections website. Demings is the second prominent Democrat to file paperwork for the race, joining former Congressman David Jolly.

New York City voters head to the polls today to choose their next mayor in a closely watched election. Progressive candidate Zohran Mamdani (D) is polling on average more than 14 points ahead of his rival, former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo (I). 

The Trump administration said yesterday it will partially fund the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program this month amid the federal government shutdown—now tied for the longest in US history. The update comes after funding for the program, colloquially known as food stamps, lapsed over the weekend.
