Tallahassee Mayor Gillum Leaves Soros Backed PFAW After Tallahassee Reports Story on Campaign Pledge

Tallahassee Mayor Gillum Leaves Soros Backed PFAW After Tallahassee Reports Story on Campaign Pledge

A little over a month after Tallahassee Reports published a report revealing Mayor Andrew Gillum had ignored a campaign pledge dealing with his employment with the George Soros backed People for American Way Foundation (PFAW), it appears Gillum is out at PFAW.

Gillum was the founder and Director of Youth Leadership Programs for the PFAW.

In a January 13, 2017 press release PFAW Foundation President Michael Keegan said, “I’m deeply grateful for the extraordinary work that Andrew Gillum has done as Director of Youth Leadership Programs and founder of the YEO Network. Andrew is an inspirational leader and his impact on our organization and the progressive movement is hard to overstate….While we’re sad to see Andrew go, we can’t wait to see what’s next for one of the strongest progressive leaders in our country right now.”

In the same press release Gillum stated that “PFAW Foundation’s unique work with the next generation of progressive leadership has already had a tremendous impact on the face of power in this country, and I couldn’t be prouder of the change that we’ve helped to make.

The controversy over Gillum’s job, which paid him approximately $140,000 annually, went back to his campaign for Mayor when he told a reporter he would take a pay cut at PFAW to focus on the increased responsibilities that came with Tallahassee’s Leadership Mayor position.

Gillum refused to answer TR’s questions about the status of his employment after he won election.

However, public documents recently released by PFAW and obtained by Tallahassee Reports showed Gillum maintained his full salary with PFAW during  2015 and the recent announcement seems to indicate he had the same responsibilities and salary during 2016.

Now that he is no longer with PFAW, does that mean that Mayor Gillum will be spending more time on his mayoral responsibilities?

Recent reports that Gillum is considering a run for Governor of Florida would seem to be supported by other statements in the PFAW press release.

The press release revealed that Gillum “is planning to focus his attention on political challenges confronting his home state of Florida.” Gillum added, “I look forward to pursuing new opportunities for progressive leadership in Florida.”

    1. you should open your eyes then, he paid a fair bit for the 2017 election, along with all the other billionaires that supported him.

Don’t worry though, he appointed all those same guys to his cabinet.

      1. Adam it’s has plan has the sun will set that you voted for Hilary less trump want to take care of the we the people vs Hilary will let this county be invader of every county then we the people will be called homeless,,,,how’s that you ask it like this how many jobs do the other countries people have vs the we the people that have been here longer

      3. You don’t know what you are talking about. there has not been an election in 2017..! Duh. It was 2016. If you don’t know what YEAR it is, how can you know anything else?!

  1. it’s hilarious how some people want to talk so much about Soros, a billionaire activist, but are perfectly fine with Trump, who is also a billionaire activist that decided to buy an election.

We need to get corporate money out of politics ASAP!

    1. Prez Trump used mostly his own money, with some minor contributors such as myself.
No money from Russia, the Saudis, etc, like the clintons got.
Soros wants to destroy America, with open borders and one world order. He has destabilized other countries and tried to do it here thru bo his puppet.
Trump wants just the opposite, and so do I.

  2. If he is planning on “focusing his attention on political challenges confronting his home state of Florida” this may be worse. He doesn’t need to spend more time focusing on Tallahassee, we can’t afford it!

  3. Exactly what I was thinking, Mr. Franklin. No way in heck the Young Emporer gives up $140k per year. No way. The mortgages fancy house

  4. He will still do their bidding and probably will be paid indirectly by Soros himself, outside the PFTAW umbrella. He’ll have to report it though, as income, on his Financial Disclosure statement and income tax return.

gillum is not about to give up $140,000 in income without another ‘iron in the fire’ to compensate.
