  1. Commonsence – I find your comment on target! I have been doing this math for months to keep perspective because the news organizations do not.

  2. For many months now, we’ve been bombarded with nothing but daily numbers that have emphasized the negative, deadly, horrifying, scary aspects of COVID-19. For a change, let’s take a look at the more positive reality of this pandemic.

Recent numbers indicate 293,394 people in Leon County and 21,456,774 Florida residents have NOT died from the virus.

The percentage of deaths (188) in Leon is 0.064 % That percentage is the equivalent of a 200-pound person gaining or losing about 2 ounces.

State wide the death rate (23,226) is at 0.11%, about a quarter of a pound for the 200-pound person.

Maybe if we stop fixating on the negative numbers and track the positive numbers people would start feeling better and this pandemic would be better understood for the reality it is.

Is the virus disrupting our lives or is it the way it’s being reported that is causing the panic, anxiety and fear in people’s lives?
