The Tallahassee City Commission approved new sidewalks for Hawk’s Rise Elementary School and Springwood Elementary School. It is part of the Florida Department of Transportation’s “Safe Routes to School” funding and will cover all of the sidewalk construction and installation.

Patrick O’Bryant – Tallahassee Mayor John Dailey’s appointment to the Citizens Police Review Board (CPRB) – has resigned from the Board following a 3-2 vote by the Tallahassee City Commission to remove fellow board member, Taylor Biro.

Tallahassee Police is warning the public about a telephone scam pretending to be originating from the Tallahassee Police Department. Citizens have been reporting that they have been receiving calls from someone claiming to be a TPD officer and the call is coming from TPD’s main phone line. The caller would tell the citizen there is a warrant out for their arrest and they are to send money to have the warrants dropped. TPD is recommending to hang up the phone immediately and not provide any personal information.

According to permit filings recorded through November with Leon County and the City of Tallahassee, the number of single-family new construction permits are trending down.

Florida Surgeon General Dr. Joseph Ladapo is doubling down saying mRNA vaccines “mRNA COVID-19 vaccines are far less safe than any vaccines widely used.” Ladapo noted a new study out of Germany was consistent with the data he is seeing at the Florida Department of Health indicating the mRNA COVID vaccines are leading to myocarditis, most notably in young men.

Republican Party of Florida Chair Joe Gruters is launching a bid for the Treasurer of the Republican National Committee. Gruters previously served as a Florida State senator from Sarasota and became an ally of RNC Chair Ronna McDaniel.

Florida State soccer’s Jenna Nighswonger has been named a MAC Hermann Trophy finalist as announced by the United Soccer Coaches and the Missouri Athletic Club. Nighswonger had a career year in her senior season. She had a career-high in points (28), assists (16) and goals (six) and was named a United Soccer Coaches First Team All-American.
