LOCAL NEWS

Josh Johnson, former Leon County Commission candidate and current teacher at Godby High School, will appear on The Steve Stewart Show today at 12:15 p.m. to discuss the controversy related to the AP African American Studies course. Get the details.

The City of Tallahassee could be impacted by the Florida Legislature giving state regulators more oversight of municipal utilities. Lawmakers expressed concerns about situations in which residents are customers of municipal utilities but live outside of city boundaries. Get the details.

Tallahassee Memorial Hospital is increasing security measures after one employee was attacked while walking to work. According to TMH, security will now be monitoring and making rounds in nearby parking lots, TPD has been requested to patrol the area more often, and lighting will be surveyed in many parking lots.

Tallahassee-based Attorney Ben Crump announced he intends to sue Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis over his Department of Education denying an AP African American course. Attorney Crump will be joined by three AP honors high school students who will serve as the lead plaintiffs in the lawsuit against Governor DeSantis.

FLORIDA NEWS

The Florida Supreme Court likely will not make a decision on the constitutionality of Florida’s 15 week abortion ban until after the Legislative Session. Speculation has swirled as to whether Florida’s Republican controlled supermajorities would advance more pro-life legislation, but Florida Senate President Kathleen Passidomo said last year they would not take up more legislation until the Florida Supreme Court makes their ruling.

An amendment filed by Florida House Rep. Brad Yeagar onto current legislation would ban Florida students from accessing social media sites using internet access provided by a school district. The bill would require school districts to install a firewall on school Wi-Fi preventing access to social media platforms.

SPORTS NEWS

Florida State women’s basketball travels to South Bend, Indiana to take on the No. 7 Notre Dame Fighting Irish tonight at 8:00 p.m. The Noles are looking to pull off the upset and get their eighth conference win and propel them past Notre Dame into second place in the conference. The game will be broadcast on Bally Sports Florida.

  1. Ben Crump want to sue somebody based on race. (Not news, but we need the story.)

    This is no different than their labeling a child protection law “don’t say gay” except their trying to hide child indoctrination into minority based studies.

    The Schools wouldn’t have this problem and could save a LOT of Money if they went back to Text Books.

  3. “Hanna is the latest in a line of superintendents who’ve been forced out or have stepped down”

    This statement basically says he was Forced Out or has stepped down when that is not the case. You might want to reword this.
