Florida State Rep. Fred Hawkins, the bill sponsor for the state takeover of Walt Disney World’s Reedy Creek Improvement District, said the debt burden will not fall to the local taxpayer. “People say why wouldn’t this be voter-approved? Why wouldn’t you allow the voters of Osceola and Orange to do this?” Hawkins asked rhetorically. “Well, then that would make them responsible for the debt if we allowed a voter referendum.”

Florida lawmakers are also considering a bill aimed at “protest judges” who ignore a jury’s recommended death sentence to explain their decision in writing. “If any judge deviates from a jury recommendation of death to impose a life sentence instead, he or she should explain, in writing, the reasoning to the victim’s families and the community they serve,” said Sen. Blaise Ingoglia.

  1. “I’ve got an idea (sarcasm), let’s throw 6.2 million at the homeless problem”

Here’s a better idea if you ask John Dailey, let’s throw $20 million of our tax money to FSU for luxury stadium seats.

  2. “The trip to ride “Ole Sparkie” shouldn’t take more than 10 years.” And afterwards they find the exonerating DNA results…too bad so sad

  3. Walt Disney is rolling over in his grave knowing that his Kingdom has become a threat to children.

30 years on Deathrow is too long. The process needs streamlined. The trip to ride “Ole Sparkie” shouldn’t take more than 10 years.

The Teacher’s Union is a large part of all the problems our education system faces.

I’ve got an idea (sarcasm), let’s throw 6.2 million at the homeless problem and let’s just issue civil citations instead of criminally charging our black youth. It is bad enough that every day the amount of arrest in Leon Co fills 3 to 6 pages.

I have no sympathy for all you liberals that keep voting in these weak on crime politicians.
