Just a day after City Walk Urban Mission Shelter residents were told they couldn’t be housed overnight, the organization learned that the order will be paused, at least until a court date in April. The shelter was cited for a fire code violation in November when TFD discovered the building does not have a working sprinkler system.

Tallahassee Police responded to a stabbing Tuesday morning that left one person injured. The incident occurred around 7:15 a.m. after an argument occurred between two women. The suspect is a 34-year-old woman arrested for aggravated battery, and the victim was transported to a local hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
A Quincy man was found guilty of first-degree murder after shooting an 18-year-old in 2021. Mario Sailor was 17 at the time when he killed the victim, Jalen Jones. The perpetrator was arrested and charged with first-degree murder and armed robbery with a firearm and he is facing 40-year minimum mandatory with a maximum of life in prison.
The Florida House’s Health & Human Services Committee voted to advance a bill that would prohibit Minors from receiving “gender-affirming care.” Doctors who ignore this rule would be charged with a third-degree felony. The legislation also would require minors who are already receiving gender-affirming treatments to end their care by the end of the year. The bill also impacts adults seeking to transition. It would ban insurers from covering gender-affirming care for adults and prohibit a person’s biological sex from being changed on a birth certificate.
The Florida Senate’s Fiscal Policy committee advanced a bill that would ban abortion after six weeks. The bill would permit abortion up to 15 weeks if the woman was impregnated by rape or incest or a combination thereof. Similarly, if the fetus had a “fatal abnormality,” abortion would be permitted during the first two trimesters. DeSantis has offered his support for the bill while also saying “exceptions are sensible.”
