Former Tallahassee Mayor and Democrat gubernatorial candidate Andrew Gillum was in federal court yesterday as attorneys prepare for his upcoming trial. A number of area communities were awarded grants from Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis’ office for the state’s Broadband Opportunity Program to improve broadband internet access. The city of Monticello along with unincorporated Lamont and Wacissa and the city of Perry were awarded $5 million to add 946 miles of fiber optic cable to their existing network to provide 2,528 unserved locations in the tri-county region of Jefferson, Taylor and Madison counties. Numerous communities in the Madison County area were also recipients for the grant.

FLORIDA NEWS

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis is expecting that the Chicago mayoral election will lead to more of a population influx to Florida. “You know, I’ve got to follow some of the elections outside of Florida because it affects Florida. This Chicago Mayor, people are going to flee Chicago in even greater numbers,” DeSantis said at an infrastructure press conference.

A bill that is poised to pass the Florida Senate would ban cities, counties and other governments from issuing permits for events that feature drag shows at LGBT events, including Pride parades. Should a government issue a permit for an event that goes on to violate the law, the event organizer named in the permit would face a first-degree misdemeanor.

  1. Good chance of Rain Weds and Thur….have fun protesting.

The first rule of (Griffin Middle School) Fight Club is you don’t talk about Fight Club. It is bad enought the Black Community has a big problems with school drop outs. Now a young black teacher is feeding the “school to prison pipeline”.

  2. Rick Minor is a former Leon County Democratic Party chairman so of course he is going to be in lockstep with every cockamamie protest that comes to town. Still the schill!

This is why North Monroe looks like the ghetto it is, he has failed to do his job and quite frankly his predecessor John Dailey has also. I guess you can’t blame them completely you have to put some of the blame on the VOTERS.

  3. Maybe these ‘Occupy Tallahassee Protesters’ should go to St Pete and protest at Charlie Crist house. Crist loosing by 1.5 million votes is not a Leon county problem.

  4. WHY isn’t the “Occupy Tallahassee protesters” at the CAPITAL Protesting since that is where the Legislature is at?

  5. Good Grief: “It is a slap and a spit in the face to our bodily autonomy”

Wonder if she ever got a covid shot, or quarantined her/itself, wore a mask…..

Just wonderful to see Rick Minor hop on board a woman’s right to murder.
