LOCAL NEWS

The Tallahassee Police Department is reporting that a drug investigation led officers from the TPD and the Leon County Sheriff’s Office to a suspect in Tom Brown Park that resulted in an ambush, and a deceased suspect.

Tallahassee International Airport officials are predicting travel numbers to return to pre-COVID numbers for this Memorial Day weekend. AAA is expecting an overall increase in travel. In the month of April, TLH was 3,000 passengers shy of the 2019 number during the same month.

FLORIDA NEWS

Many questions have been raised about governance in Florida if Gov. Ron DeSantis is elected president, and he said that Lieutenant Governor Jeanette Nunez would ensure “continuity” if he wins. “Our Lieutenant Governor would take the reins. Jeanette Nuñez, she’s done a great job. She’s been with us on all these different issues. And so you would see continuity in the Governor’s Office.” Nunez also offered her endorsement of DeSantis following the announcement.

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis while on “Clay and Buck” said that he would pardon the January 6 protestors still in jail. “The Department of Justice and Federal Bureau of Investigation have been weaponized. We see that in a variety of contexts,” DeSantis argued. “And so what I’m going to do is on Day One, I will have folks that will get together and look at all these cases (where) people are victims of weaponization or political targeting and we will be aggressive at issuing pardons.”

DeSantis, in his media barrage of interviews, also sat down with Fox News’ Trey Gowdy and did not say if he was in favor of a national abortion ban. DeSantis said his view is that the states should primarily lead abortion policies and fears Democrats, if in power, would nationalize pro-abortion policies. “That would be a violation of what states like Florida have done to protect life,” DeSantis said. “It would be a violation of what states like Iowa have done to protect life. And I think that that would be an abuse of power for them to try to override every single pro-life protection in this country and allow abortion all the way up to the moment of birth, which 90% of Americans find to be truly horrific.”

  1. Desantis could go back down to hades and run from there, that would fix the problem with elector rules. But wait, no taxpayers to bilk down there.

  2. FAILURE: what planet have you been living on? Our Governor says NO to school books sexualizing our children, plain and simple. Second, he is against racial baiting of one color against another as Obama started during his failed presidential reign and since.

Lastly, a Trump-Desantis ticket would be an overwhelming victory the Left would lose their mind to. That’s why they are trying to play one against the other.

  3. Brain FAILURE

I hope you added your name to the list to receive a brain transplant because the one you have isn’t functioning very well… and the sooner the better.

  4. “Failure”… full stop… has issues. Classic Alinsky Projection.

Nice fail, Failure, or is it Saul… try again

  5. Well I just checked the photo with the Tom Brown Park attempted ambush of our beloved LEO’s and unless they were cleaverly disguised in 8lack face it would appear the attack on our LEO’s was not carried out by 8iden’s #1 most hated “White Supreamists” what a relief.

  6. Mr Whip

    Huh?

Anyone who thinks Trump and DeSantis don’t like each other it is not true. Believe me they know what they are doing. I wouldn’t start overreacting or taking sides or disparaging one over the other. That’s what the ultra left wants you to do. We can listen to each candidate intently, respect the process, and vote for your choice. That’s what I will be doing, however, Pence and Haley, don’t have a chance and Christie shouldn’t even think about it.

  7. Just in case anyone wants to wager if the folks involved in the Tom Brown Park attempted cold blooded murder of LEO’s are a part of Joe Biden’s fictional “most hated” “White Supreamists” I would like to open up the wagering with:
    Wager #1). Snidely wagers NO.

  8. DeSantis opposes freedom of speech unless it’s his speech, is anti-business, anti-education, anti-women, anti-children, and anti-people of color. All of the recent Florida legislation points to his out of touch, lopsided and awkward viewpoints. Don’t spread your hatred across this country.

A vote for Pudding fingers is a vote for our country going in the wrong direction.

  9. TR missed out on covering Crump’s hateful Tweet.

Now they missed covering all the new wonderful things you can buy with your EBT card. Yes, take your EBT card to the library and buy a summer program for you kids, get them some lunch and on the way home sell the balance of the card for 50 cents on the dollar. The Coup de Grace is Biden opposing any work requirements for the 47 percent of the population dependant on welfare. It is getting harder for the 50% that work and support the 50% that doesn’t to survive.

  10. @David — There’s this pesky thing in the Constitution that won’t allow that ticket. But I agree with the reasoning, especially these guys needing to quit shooting at each other. DeSantis can do a lot of good as Trump’s cheerleader and strengthen his position for the next cycle. Trump can do a lot of good by naming a respected and high-profile running mate. I liked Pence, but he was a relative unknown and didn’t add that much to the ticket. Haley, Scott, or any of several others would make a much stronger ticket!

  11. @ A Skeptic = Trump has already stated that he will Pardon them a couple months back. Trump and DeSantis are on the same page on most things which is why I wish those two would get together and talk. Trump needs to talk him into getting on board and being his VP so DeSantis can learn under Trump for 4 Years and then continue on for the next 8 Years.

  12. @David — I didn’t realize until yesterday that the Federal system has no provision for parole. The guy that was sentenced to 18 years in in prison earlier this week really is facing 18 years in jail. The judge went outside the sentencing guidelines to administer that punishment while his jurisdiction continues to under-prosecute and under-sentence hardened criminals.

The people that have already been sentenced, and those that are still to be sentenced, need the kind of break that DeSantis is promising. My best guess is that Trump will be on that train, too.

  13. I do like his Pardon Stance. The fact that this Administration wont even think about the BLM RIOTS that took place claiming they were Peaceful Demonstrations is very shameful on them.
