Commissioner Jack Porter Targets Commissioner Dianne Williams-Cox Over Abortion Resolution Vote

Commissioner Jack Porter Targets Commissioner Dianne Williams-Cox Over Abortion Resolution Vote

Tallahassee City Commissioner Jack Porter is using campaign text messages to attack City Commissioner Dianne Williams-Cox, who is pro-choice, for her decision not to entangle city commission business with abortion politics.

Back in October, 2021, a resolution came before the Tallahassee City Commission supporting a woman’s right to choose. The resolution passed 3-2 with City Commissioners Williams-Cox and Curtis Richardson voting against the resolution.

Williams-Cox and Richardson voted against the resolution, not because they are against abortion -they are both pro-choice, but because they did not view this as a local issue.

At the time of the vote, Commissioner Williams-Cox stressed her dislike of how “conflated the issue had become.” She said she could not support the resolution, though she believes in a woman’s choice to make the decision regarding her own body. “We are out of our lane here,” she said, “we should not be dealing with this issue. This is an issue for the legislature.”

Now Williams-Cox is being attacked for her decision, not by her opponent, but by her colleague Commissioner Jack Porter, on behalf of her opponent, Adner Marcelin.

Porter is sending out campaign text messages that indicate that the no vote on the resolution was a factor in Porter deciding to target Williams-Cox.

The text message sent to voters, which begins with Hey This is Jack Porter, states in part: “it was when I watched her vote against a resolution protecting a woman’s right to choose…that I finally decided to be part of the solution…..Adner has my full support.”

Tallahassee Reports has previously documented the coordinated effort by the progressive movement to target Dianne Williams-Cox.

  1. According to an article in Florida Politics:

“The Bellamy campaign sent the incumbent Matlow a cease-and-desist letter that states that the ad’s claim that Bellamy is a Republican is false …… Furthermore, the letter states that directing listeners to not vote for Bellamy because of party affiliation is a violation of state election laws.”

The article went on to say that Matlow said they have removed the ad.

I think that’s an action someone takes when they have been caught.

  2. Wise words from Inyra bears repeating…

“Matlow and Porter are not seeking to “oust a colleague you disagree with” as Lyle stated. Matlow and Porter are trying to represent taxpayers and constituents who deserve to have our voices heard against entrenched and “owned” commissioners. Dailey and Williams-Cox have turned away from the taxpayers and wish to continue silencing us by replacing Matlow with special interest hired hand Bellamy.”

  3. The Marxists have their staffers working it hard of late. It’s been fun poking at the Marxists, but their retorts have just become redundant banality.

Vote with your head and heart. Ignore the Marists propaganda. Vote to protect our children. Vote to preserve our Freedoms and Liberties. Vote to block the Marxist takeover.

  4. More bad choices.

An aside, the Marlow interview by Steve Stewart on Thursday was well done. Insightful. Thanks Steve.

  5. Anything involving Florida Politics Bellamy articles is to be paid no mind. Their pay-for-play publisher is apparently big friends with Reggie Cardozo, former Scott Maddox campaign manager/Governance, Inc. lobbyist and Bellamy’s consultant.

  6. According to the Florida Politics article, Matlow said they have removed the ad.

I think that’s an action someone takes when they have been caught.

  7. Like Dailey and Bellamy, Ed has no plan or platform to announce only attempt negativity and falsehoods towards the opponents. Not one accomplishment, not one plan, not one platform between them all. Dailey and Bellamy are only beholden to special interests. That is their total package.

Bellamy tried to play both sides of the fence and he makes a bad Republican and a bad Democrat. Which one is it, Bellamy, are you going to pretend to be today?

Bellamy and Dailey are cry babies because they have been exposed.

  8. Commissioner Matlow is campaigning with a record of accomplishments and a plan. It is clear sailing with the wind at his back and an energy and vigor… not looking back at Dailey and Bellamy in their sinking dinghy without an oar.

Now, Bellamy and Dailey have filed election complaints against their opponents. Who does that!? Their high priced campaign expert and former Scott Maddox employee must be MIA for two desperate candidates to waste their time attempting a ridiculous publicity stunt. I guess that’s what you do since they have no record that is favorable and no plan or platform.

This has to be the two worst campaigns I have ever seen. Two candidates so desperate and unduly agitated is only good news for their opponents.

  9. Good catch @Rusty!

    Additionally, …

The Florida Politics article also mentioned that Matlow has been endorsed by the Florida National Organization for Women. This would make sense because the Abortion Resolution which is the subject of the above TR article, was requested by the Florida National Organization for Women.

  11. For the record, “responsible citizens” who value our Constitutionally protected Freedoms and Liberties do not vote for Marxists to seek to control where you live, how much you are paid, what you drive, where you go, and what you eat. I saw firsthand the results of the Marxist agenda in East Germany (before the Wall came down)… it ain’t pretty folks. They may make it sound good on Fakebook, Twidiot, Instascam, and Sick Tok… but the reality – as always – is oppression of the working class while the Marxists elites eat caviar and sip champagne.

I “hope” you will consider voting to block the divisive Marxists from gaining control of our City and City Government.

  12. Matlow and Porter recruited Marcelin to primary Williams-Cox because she would not misuse her Office to engage in abortion activism. (read article above) And they are using “dark money” to do it. (Read previous Tallahassee Reports article dated 8/10/22)

This is the same tactic that AOC has used on the National level. The Progressive Democrats primary out the establishment Democrats in order to pass their Marxist agenda into law. We are all currently suffering from this (inflation, loss of freedoms, rise in crime, etc.).

Be sure to read and consider:
    ED’s HUMBLE SUGGESTIONS
    (posted August 13, 2022 at 5:38 pm)

  13. Vote For those who voted and were AGAINST the CSC slush fund and the $27 million stadium giveaway.

    VOTE: Jeremy Matlow

    VOTE: Adner Marcelin

Endorsed by responsible citizens and the most credible politicos in Tallahassee.

  14. Oh how hypocrisy abounds among the Marxists. Division, Lies, Hate, Projection, and Fear are the cornerstones of their dangerous ideology and propaganda.

Vote to block their mission to take control of our City and City Government. Vote to protect our future, our children, and our Freedoms.

  15. You and Barb should return your overdue and outdated library books regarding childish ways to have a political discussion.

Your hate speech didn’t work, your sexually explicit inappropriate rants didn’t work, personal insults didn’t work.. you have lost all credibility. I hear they’re hiring over at Grow Tallahassee (they are desperate), there may be a place for you there.

Please rescue Barb from spinning around on her “Resolution” broken record before she convulses and break it to her that Dianne William-Cox is pro abortion.

  16. “Sticks and stones may break my bones, but being run over by an 18-wheeler really hurts”… no, wait… that’s not it… “I’m rubber, you’re glue. Whatever you say bounces off me and sticks on you”… yeah, that’s the one.

Now, keep it up young lady and I’ll be forced to make reference to your birthing person and military footwear.

  17. @NE Moderate
I’ll vote for Matlow and Marcelin and Dozier now, and for Porter again when time. You are right, this city needs to be rid of “Doak giveaway-approving, Welauneee flip-flopping disappointment of a Commissioner in Williams-Cox” in your words, and rid of Dailey who’s attitude during commission meetings is, “I’m mayor and it’s my way or the highway.”
Consider this: it is impossible for Matlow and Porter to discuss policy, issues and ethics reform when Dailey and Williams-Cox have the habit of ignoring and interrupting and silencing them both. They adjourn the meetings in the middle of Porter and Matlow trying to discuss ethics reform, and when Matlow tried to discuss the fact that Blueprint Intergovernmental Agency does not operate in the sunshine.

Matlow and Porter are not seeking to “oust a colleague you disagree with” as Lyle stated. Matlow and Porter are trying to represent taxpayers and constituents who deserve to have our voices heard against entrenched and “owned” commissioners. Dailey and Williams-Cox have turned away from the taxpayers and wish to continue silencing us by replacing Matlow with special interest hired hand Bellamy.

  18. Profound words that bears repeating:

    NE Moderate says:
    August 13, 2022 at 11:04 am
Yeah Dianne Williams-Cox is a pretty bad commissioner.

Blend of RB Holmes $ influence, Chamber, developers practically running her campaign, voted for Doak giveaway, flip-flopped on Welaunee for mysterious reasons, and supported raising property taxes on every home in Leon County via 2020 CSC tax endorsement…

  19. 2022 Primary Election

    BARB’S RECOMMENDATION

Before voting, give serious consideration to

    ED’s HUMBLE SUGGESTIONS
    (posted August 13, 2022 at 5:38 pm)

@Edward Lyle has a good head on his shoulders.

  20. Being registered NPA, and Florida being a Closed Primary State… my Primary Election involvement is limited.

Early voting will begin on Monday, but smart voting is always required… The best local coverage for this Primary Election cycle – and the issues that truly impact our lives – has been Tallahassee Reports. But ultimately, your ability to do your own homework and research rules the day… and ignore the noise… even mine 😉

    ED’s HUMBLE SUGGESTIONS:

Mayor: John Daily – not impressed, but necessary to block the Marxist takeover of our City and City Government

City Commissioner, Seat 3: David Bellamy – to block the Marxist takeover of our City and City Government

City Commissioner, Seat 5: Diane Williams-Cox. – although I don’t care for hyphenated names… flashes of logic, and the right call to block the Marxist takeover of our City and City Government

Board of County Commissioners, District 1: Bill Proctor – flashes of logic, and better the devil you know

Board of County Commissioners, District 2: Undecided, still researching this one

Board of County Commissioners, District 3: Damon Victor – a safe call, but time will tell if it was the right one

Board of County Commissioners, District 5: Dustin Rivest – may bring a needed balance of perspectives to the table

Board of County Commissioners, At Large, District 2: Nick Maddox – not really threatening, some balance at times, and better the devil you know

School Board Member, District 1: Marianne Arbulu – not completely sure why, just a gut feeling

School Board Member, District 4: Susan Hodges – not completely sure why, just a gut feeling, and she just may surprise us all

I can’t say as I’m completely satisfied with my own picks and suggestions… but for me, this is a “Big Picture” and more of a “biding time for better options” Election. The actions taken by some candidates this cycle (particularly certain incumbents) has given me deep concern and pause. It has been clear to me that some candidates (particularly certain incumbents) are not at all focused on their sworn duty to we citizens and taxpayers… but rather focused on a dangerous agenda and loyal to their Political Party’s mission to bring the Great and Free Republic down.

Best of luck and thank you to all candidates who stepped to the plate, and may God guide your decisions.

  21. Tallahassee has been blessed with a candidate selection of candidates who have stepped up who have incredible credentials and done their homework. They have run stellar campaigns and focused on the issues with the exception of a few..

Early voting will begin on Monday. The best local guide this election cycle has been the Tallahassee Democrat, WFSU and League of Women Voters.

    HOPE’S ENDORSEMENTS:

    Mayor: Kristen Dozier

    City Commissioner, Seat 3:
    Jeremy Matlow

    City Commissioner, Seat 5:
    Adner Marcelin

Board of County Commissioners, District 1
    Terrence Barber

Board of County Commissioners, District 2
    Lynda Bell

Board of County Commissioners, District 3
    Damon Victor

Board of County Commissioners, District 5
    Dustin Rivest

Board of County Commissioners, At Large
    Rudy Ferguson

    School Board Member, District 1
    Marianne Arbulu

    School Board Member, District 4
    Laurie Cox

  22. I can’t seem to find any comments I’ve made recently that either endorses or promotes any candidate. Nor can I find any comment that would be considered “creepy” or “sexual” by a reasonable person. Maybe I’m mistaken, and someone can help me locate them and provide the link. Otherwise, keep in mind, “You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor” (Exodus 20:16 ESV), and govern yourself accordingly, for “the fruit of the Spirit is … self-control” (Galatians 5:22–23 ESV).

  23. Yeah Dianne Williams-Cox is a pretty bad commissioner.

Blend of RB Holmes $ influence, Chamber, developers practically running her campaign, voted for Doak giveaway, flip-flopped on Welaunee for mysterious reasons, and supported raising property taxes on every home in Leon County via 2020 CSC tax endorsement.

  24. Matlow and Porter recruited Marcelin to primary Williams-Cox because she would not misuse her Office to engage in abortion activism. (read article above) And they are using “dark money” to do it. (TR 8/10/22 – see below)

This is the same tactic that AOC has used on the National level. The Progressive Democrats primary out the establishment Democrats in order to pass their Marxist agenda into law. We are all currently suffering from this (inflation, loss of freedoms, etc.).

From Tallahassee Reports, on August 10, 2022:

“State campaign records show that a progressive group based in California
-led by former Bernie Sanders campaign employees – is financing the efforts of campaign consultant Max Herrle who is helping the Adner Marcelin Tallahassee City Commission [campaign].

Herrle is a former local lobbyist who has close ties with City Commissioner Jack Porter and Jeremy Matlow.”

  25. “Though they know God’s righteous decree that those who practice such things deserve to die, they not only do them but give approval to those who practice them.” (Romans 1:32 ESV)

  26. @ Rusty and Edward,

Vulgarity, conduct unbecoming, copycat, misinformation, inappropriateness, only shows your desperation. You have nothing positive to say about your candidates; not one has produced a solid plan.

You are unable to promote your candidate because they haven’t accomplished anything. You attack anyone who has a different opinion with sophomore nonsensical inappropriate sexual overtones with a base of childish fear mongering.

Their modus operandi is to use their office for themselves for personal gain.

They further entrenched their fiedom with raises to the upper tier employees.

Again, with all your nonsensical creepy rants you have failed to give one accomplishment that your choices have made. Not one!

You both need to get your moral compass recalibrated because at the moment you do not even have one.

But keep it up because it is affecting your candidate campaigns… to their detriment.

Dailey was exposed for his meeting with FPL and Bellamy was collectively ostracized by the most influential politicos for being having no plan and desperate.

Again, Matlow has only been positive, critical to corruption, transparent, voted the right way, and conservative. He has been brave and stood up to the corruption called them out on it and in turn his constituents and the voter base needed to win that seat is out in full force to vote him in another term.

  27. At least Edward Lyle’s pithy slogans don’t encourage the murders of black pre-born babies, unlike Matlow’s and Porter’s abortion resolution. The children who may or may not be offended by Ed’s choice of words at least have the opportunity to be offended, unlike the children Matlow and Porter celebrate being killed in the womb.

  28. @Hope,

You did not “expose” anything about me by your name calling. (Although, I do understand name calling is what people do when they don’t have a good answer or an argument.) I will gladly repeat what I said and the reader can judge for themselves.

    “@Hope,

    As you are well aware:

David Bellamy and Williams-Cox did not vote for the Abortion Resolution.

David Bellamy was not on the Commission at the time (although he will be soon).

Williams-Cox had the integrity to not vote for something she had no standing to vote on. And as the whole point of the above article states, it’s the reason she is being targeted.

BTW, deception is a form of lying.”

  29. BPT,

Yes, Barb got called out on her deceptions and hypocrisy. I simply relayed a fact to how she was operating and it was exposed. I think you should take the issue up with her as therein lies the problem. Don’t attack the messenger..

  30. I’m always amazed by those who choose to dive head-first into a mud puddle… then whine because their hair got dirty.

Does anyone know if UberEats delivers cheese?

In an effort to protect the delicate sensibilities of the droves of Elementary School children who permeate this site and thread… I’ll try harder to temper my language so as to not disturb their Gender Dysphoria studies.

  31. @Hope. You chastise Mr. Lyle for name-calling and then proceed to call @Barb “deceptive” and …wait for it… a HYPOCRITE. Oh, the irony is delicious, although it seems completely lost on you.?

  32. @Todd. The women of Tallahassee still have the right to choose to kill their unborn babies, up to 15 weeks. If that’s too soon to decide or too inconvenient, then they – and YOU – can also choose to move to California, NY, DC, Washington, Oregon, etc.

  33. TR Staff,

Edward Lyle keeps using the “Menage a Trois” term that by definition is vulgar acts. He is using it to unfairly characterize individuals he does not agree with.

He has switched from politically offensive terms to now sexually explicit vulgar terms.

This is a family publication and it is particularly offensive for that reason.

Also it severely diminishes his credibility.

  34. @ Bev… people supported by two of the Marxist Ménage à Trois of Mayhem (Jeremy & Jack) are on the ballot. Birds of a feather… as it were.

  35. @ Bev… me also… and neither shall me or my family be fooled again. I don’t align with William-Cox and her ideology, but I will canvass as many folks as I can to convince them to help block the Marxists from taking over our City and City Government.

  36. Good for Matlow and Porter. It’s time for a change from property tax-increasing, Doak giveaway-approving, Welauneee flip-flopping disappointment of a Commissioner in Williams-Cox.

  37. @Hope Jack Porter fooled me in the last election cycle. I will not make that mistake again. I hope this is true for others.

  38. This election cycle is very much like dumpster diving looking for any scraps available. Except there are no more scraps. All that is left is the slime on the bottom.
    And it smells.

  39. The Grow Tallahassee publication and lobbyists got a spanking in the last election and was forced into oblivion.

Hopeful NE semi moderate is the only smoldering ember remaining. It will extinguish itself in due time.

  40. Worried about Hope. Seems to be coming apart at the seams now that all of the misinformation has been cleared up.

Any Republican who votes for Matlow might as well vote for Bernie and AOC for president.

The only bundling that matter is Matlow’s bundle of socialist, far left positions — pro abortion, pro labor unions, pro socialism, pro massive government spending, pro Defund the Police.

  41. Again, John Dailey, David Bellamy, and Dianne Williams -Cox are pro-abortion and accept bundled contributions from a developer who divvies out contributions under multiple corporations. This is the way corrupt regimes operate.

Voters who have aligned with these candidates or have not been informed about these candidates are attempting to create hysteria and false narratives because their candidates are desperate.

The dark money, false narratives, and desperation is driving their campaign. The train has left the station but is derailing one by one.

  42. Just for the record… the Mayor and Commission of the City of Tallahassee have nothing whatsoever to do with the Pro-Life versus the Pro-Abortion issue(s). The feckless Pro-Abortion Resolution was clearly a politically motivated ruse, brought forward with the intent for it to be used as a mechanism of attack by the Marxists on the Commission against those Commission colleagues that may or may not have a differing viewpoint, but rightly recognized that the matter was not in their purview.

These Marxists commissioners are devious, dangerous, and deplorable. They are not to be trusted in any way, and they should be voted OUT of office for the good of our City and our City Government.

  43. Barb,

You are deceptive and a hypocrite. Thank you for clearing that up.

John Dailey, David Bellamy, and Dianne Williams Cox are pro abortion and accept dark money from a developer who divvies out funds under multiple corporations as do corrupt regimes.

You should ask for the resignation of the mayor and denounce Bellamy and Cox.

  44. John Dailey David Bellamy and Dianne Williams-Cox should return their dark money bundled contributions from the developer originally from Iran. As should any other candidate who has accepted these bundled contributions from the the multiple corporations owned by Ghazvini.

That is what corrupt regimes do.. they pay off politicians

. Opening up multiple corporations to divvy out funds under different company names raises the amount of contributions that they pay off our politicians to put forth their sloppy developments that wreak havoc on our environment and other projects that take away from our quality of life.

There are many candidates who have not accepted these bundled contributions, have put forth an exemplary campaign, who are not attacking their opponents and putting their ideas and plans on display; whereas the bundlers are running horrendous negative campaigns and are desperate.

  45. @Hope,

BTW, deception is a form of lying.

  46. Hope now comparing moderate Democrats to the Ayotollah — this is what coming unhinged looks like. The socialists 2 minutes of fame is about up.

At least we’ve moved on from the laughable claim that Matlow is a conservative.

He’s for abortion of every kind, massive government spending, labor unions, defunding the police and every other ultra-liberal policy around.

  47. Barb,

John Dailey, David Bellamy, and Dianne Williams-Cox are PRO-abortion which the only thing you are preaching is hypocrisy.

  48. @David T. Hawkins, you said referring to the constant 3-2 decisions:

“So I can see Matlow and Porter’s frustrations with what has been going on.
They may have felt that this is the only way, to bring it out in the open.”

But, according to Porter, it is not about the 3-2 decisions, it’s about her radical abortion agenda. The Abortion Resolution is important to them because they want to pressure the State Legislature to vote against abortion restrictions and vote for abortion expansion.

    As the article says:
“Porter is sending out campaign text messages that indicate that the no vote on the resolution was a factor in Porter deciding to target Williams-Cox.
The text message sent to voters, which begins with Hey This is Jack Porter, states in part: “it was when I watched her vote against a resolution protecting a woman’s right to choose…that I finally decided to be part of the solution…..Adner has my full support.”

  49. POC…

You can either support Americans like Matlow …Matlow who has the support of hard working taxpayers or you can continue to vote for politicians who are funded by a mega donor from Iran who fled the corrupt regime because they were part of the corrupt regime, unfortunately… it was taken over by an even more corrupt regime and that is the God’s honest truth.

You need to wake up or we’re going to be continued to be under the thumb of one developer who pays off our politicians and has no mercy for the child who needs to walk to school on a sidewalk or goes home at night and has no food to eat.

It is time to take control over your own community and not funded by the remnants of a corrupt regime.

Matlow is an American and yet his opponent takes money from the remnants of a corrupt regime in Iran and you have the lack of information to call him names that shouldn’t be allowed on this forum.

The blind leading the hysterical and the only one with clean hands is Matlow.

  50. @ David… Your point is well taken, but consider this… whether something is good or bad for the City is by it’s very nature subjective and dependent upon ones’ individual beliefs and perspectives. Interesting enough, the scenario you present is exactly what I’m referring to. I do not expect – and we all should hope not to expect – this Mayor and body of Commissioners to agree on all issues and/or agenda items. If they’re all of one mindset and vote unanimously on all matters before them, then there is no need for a Commission at all. The whole purpose of the body is to bring varying perspectives and ideas to the table in hopes of reaching a consensus on a given matter. It is the responsibility of each member of the body to offer suggestions and/or amendments to the presented item if they have a disagreement with it in-part or entirely. Their goal should be to present their respective offerings and ideas in hopes of changing colleague’s minds to their side of the debate/discussion resulting in a change they seek in the item presented. Sometimes they’re successful, and sometimes they’re not. In the end a vote is taken, staff is given direction, and you move on to the next agenda item. They are elected to conduct the people’s business in a collegial manner. They are not elected to win personal ideological battles for themselves or their political Party persuasions.

In this particular case, we see the real division within the Democrat Party played out in full view… those who lean left versus those who lean so far left they fell off the common sense wagon of reality. I do not, and never have, agreed with the concept of wasting our taxpayer time, money, and resources or partisan, non-impactful, insignificant, and feckless use of “Resolutions” to blather on about matters not within the power or purview of the Mayor and Commission. The specific matter at hand – the pro abortion resolution – had no business being brought forward in the first place. And now you can see the real intent of that being brought forward… to use as a political tool against Commission colleagues you disagree with.

I believe it to be a foolish and divisive move for Matlow and Porter to team up against a colleague(s). IMO; There is no way this action is helpful or beneficial to the intent or charge of the Mayor and Commission to work together to conduct the people’s business.

To be clear, I hadn’t yet made my decisions on every race. This actions by these two helped make them for me. I see their true colors and intent… and I don’t like it and will vote to block it… as is my right, and yours as well of course.

I do appreciate your civil discourse David, even though we may disagree here and there.

  51. So, in the Capital District my choice is to vote for the Bolsheviks or stay with the Mensheviks. Once you cede any semblance of power to the Bolsheviks, they will move quickly to radically transform everything to further solidify their power. The ends justify the means. It’s easy to pretend to be “ethical,” fair minded and fiscally “conservative” when you are in the minority because it’s clear your votes will never go your way. So, you lie and pretend to be all these things, but the audit trail of funds clearly proves where your money is and not where you mouth is, currently (although their mouths sometimes still betray them). Once you gain majority power you can flip the switch to any radical agenda you’ve always held dear. This is ALWAYS what the Bolsheviks have done throughout the last 100 years. At least the Mensheviks don’t want to kill me, yet.

P.S. What did the Bolsheviks eventually do to the Mensheviks? I wonder.

  52. Fact:

Dark money leads to trolls committing identity theft and driving around in a Maserati that taxpayers paid for. That is all you need to know. His candidates are desperate as is he and cannot intelligently bring one cohesive thought to the table except to act like a son of dark money who buys off our politicians at the expense of taxpayers.

  53. FACT: Anybody who says “the progressives have proven to be conservative” have lost whatever tiny grains of credibility they had remaining.

  54. Fact:

The progressives in Tallahassee have proven to be the conservatives when it comes to voting and doing the right thing.

Edward Lyle is in denial and talks himself silly all day long denying this fact.

@ Fed Up… you are either uninformed or in denial; also, as to dark money, it leads to regimes. You also acted deplorable when a candidate was committing identity theft you continued to bully and support him.

@ Rusty … if you are going to quote scripture and attempt to portray yourself as a Christian act like one. Your actions here are inexcusable. You owe this country God, and me apology for being a bully to me the other day. Christians aren’t bullies.

@ Todd… Praise the Lord! Prayers do work and well said!

  55. @ Edward Lyle: You said: “Their job is to work together in their charge of conducting the people’s business… whether or not they see eye to eye on a given ideology.”

I can’t agree more. BUT, I have noticed that 90% of what Motlow and Porter have been FOR, the Three, Daily, Richardson & Cox, have been totally against, even if it is GOOD for the City and what ever the Two have been against, the Three have been FOR even though it would be bad for the City. So I can see Matlow and Porter’s frustrations whit what has been going on. They may have felt that this is the only way, to bring it out in the open.

  56. @ Fed up… notwithstanding your very pragmatic and reasonable assertions – several of which I agree with – slanderous propaganda is the way of the left these days. Sadly, it’s become quite effective, particularly with the malleable and ill-educated And sometimes the only way to fight fire is with fire. Unfortunately, “taking the high road” is no longer effective when dealing with the left. You cannot always take the high road when dealing with people for which there is no high road. To the Alinsky’ites, it’s not about the truth… it’s about the accusation. And in the 15-second attention span world we now live in, the goal is to level the accusation and more on in hopes that no one will respond and it will just hangout there.

I do stand firm on my belief that this public move by Matlow and Porter against their colleague has indeed damaged the cohesion and collegial function of this Commission going forward. Their job is to work together in their charge of conducting the people’s business… whether or not they see eye to eye on a given ideology. I do not see where publicly seeking to oust a colleague you disagree with supports that charge in any way whatsoever. But as you so aptly note, that’s just my opinion.

By the way, I enjoyed my evening very much and hope you did too 🙂

  57. @Todd, as you said, you live in a liberal city surrounded by liberal people like yourself, so you may not have had the opportunity to hear the good news of God, which begins by recognizing that God made the world and everything in it. Therefore, He is the owner and rightful ruler of the entire universe, and we are all accountable to Him.

However, the Bible tells us, and our consciences remind us, that we have all sinned against God. We have all rebelled against God and sought to live by our own rules and desires. We disobey His law by lying, lust, sinful anger, selfishness and many other ways. God is a just and righteous judge. He will judge all who have disobeyed Him, sentencing them to Hell for eternity.

But God, in His love and mercy, made a way by which He could uphold His justice and forgive the guilty. He sent His Son, Jesus, into the world. Jesus is fully God and now fully man. By becoming a man, He was able to live the perfect life God required of us and to die and take the penalty we deserve for our sin. He was raised from the dead so that our sins could be fully paid for, and we could have His perfect life counted for us.

This is the good news of God. The Bible says that if you will turn from your sin and trust Jesus as your Savior, relying on His death and resurrection as your only hope of satisfying God’s demands, you will be forgiven by God and given new and eternal life.

  58. This thread and the other on the dark money topic have both gotten ridiculous. Because someone agrees with you it does not make them right. Because someone agrees with you it does not make them wrong. Everyone is stating their opinion, which like you-know-whats every one has one. When all is said and done, everyone here will vote based on whatever criteria they think is important. That is the way that voting is supposed to work. Calling people names, accusing them of crimes, advocating they should lose their jobs or devolving into arguments most often found on an elementary school playground isn’t going to persuade anyone to change their mind. Best advice is to step away from you device and enjoy the rest of your evening.

  59. @Todd, What God thinks about abortion is what matters. Since he is the author of life, you can assume he is against it.

As far as what the majority of people think, when did they become my boss? As far as what Matlow and Porter think, I don’t even owe them my vote let alone my soul.

By the way, I will pray when and where I want to. You are just another abortion advocate hiding behind euphemisms. “Women’s right to choose” – give me a break, it’s called abortion; own it already.

  60. @Todd, rather than the less progressive population move, I say just de-annex. Let the progressive elected officials do the projects they want WITHOUT the taxes north of I-10. Matlow, doesn’t want any growth up there anyway.

  61. Interesting comments about Marxism … David Bellamy supported raising property taxes in 2020 while Matlow opposed creation of the CSC slush fund. Dianne supported the property tax hike as well.

  62. OMG …this Barb is delusional… The majority of people support the right for women to choose…You and ur religion have nothing to do with the LAW…please pray in a church.. Not in school… Haloloa

  63. This guy on here…Edward Lyle.. What is ur problem.. U live in a liberal city with liberal people like me… U don’t like. …MOVE. That’s what u said about people that don’t like Trump. MOVE SPORT.

  64. It’s unquestionable that the two members of the Marxist Ménage à Trois of Mayhem (Jeremy & Jack) have unimpeachably proven that they have no interest in doing the people’s business, and have further assured the dysfunction and impotence of our City Commission body so long as they sit in those seats. They are driven by ideology activism, not citizen governance.

They should resign immediately or be recalled.

  65. Wrong.

Their votes reflect their record and their record did not give away $27 million.

No matter how many times one resorts to name calling and ignoring the facts doesn’t change anything other desperation is driving your train which has already derailed.

  66. The two members of the Marxist Ménage à Trois of Mayhem (Jeremy & Jack) have unimpeachably proven that they have no interest in doing the people’s business, and have further assured the dysfunction and impotence of our City Commission body so long as they sit in those seats. They are driven by ideology activism, not citizen governance.

They should resign immediately or be recalled.

  67. @ Barb… excellent points and well stated

@ NE Moderate… that’s a false equivalent and not at all germane to the context of my post

  68. @Edward Lyle Should John Dailey (D-FPL) also resign for meeting with Florida Power & Light lobbyists at City Hall, when he has to recuse himself on any FPL related matters?

Any Grow Tallahassee-endorsed candidates should renounce their dark money support, especially if their wife happens to be a lawyer and lobbyist for monopoly FPL.

  69. Steve, back in October, 2021, a resolution came before the TCC supporting abortion not “a woman’s right to choose”.

Williams-Cox had the integrity to not vote for something she had no standing to vote on.

Jack Porter states “it was when I watched her vote against a resolution protecting a woman’s right to choose…that I finally decided to be part of the solution”. Porter won’t use the term abortion, she has to hide behind and deceive with euphemisms. Of course, we all know that abortion advocacy is about eliminating the pre-born, a group of people that are inconvenient.

Porter’s view of abortion advocacy as “part of the solution” is chilling. The last time I can think of when politicians felt compelled to eliminate a group of inconvenient people was when the Nazis had a “solution” to the Jewish problem.

@Mike L, I believe you had previously stated that you were pro-life. Please, don’t let your resentment against the wealthy lead you to throw the pre-born under the bus. Also, remember, one day you may be a member of the inconvenient group.

  70. Dianne Williams-Cox is pro-abortion trying to hide it to appeal to conservatives. I believe that is the point that is trying to be made here and that is a valid point.

Dianne’s abysmal record such as the $27 million stadium giveaway for campaign contributions, voting for the CSC and Welaunee has demolished her support base and she is out the door.

  71. IMO… Matlow and Porter have damaged any possible semblance of functional civility, comradery, and collegial operations of this Commission going forward. Their spiteful, foolish, and unprecedented moves to attack a Commission colleague is astonishing divisive, counterintuitive, and counterproductive.

In the best interest of our City Government tasked with conducting the citizens’ business, both should resign immediately.
