State News

Senate President Kathleen Passidomo, R-Naples, and House Speaker Paul Renner, R-Palm Coast, said Tuesday that a special legislative session will be held the week of Dec. 12 to Dec. 16.

Gov. Ron DeSantis said last month that lawmakers would hold a special session that is expected to include providing property-tax relief for people affected by Hurricane Ian and property-insurance issues. But DeSantis did not announce specific dates.

Lawmakers were already scheduled to be in the Capitol during the week of Dec. 12 for committee meetings. Passidomo and Renner sent a joint memo to lawmakers Tuesday about the dates, though it did not provide additional details about the session.

  1. Mr Ed

    Thank you for the clarification.

It is bad enough we have to listen to Biden’s press secretary JSP’s lies DAILEY.

I HOPE you have a nice day.

  2. Today’s morning news….another shooting in Tallahassee with the suspect at large. That marks the City’s 100th shooting this year. I’m going to upgrade my conceal carry pistol in 2023. Check out the Bersa Thunder 380….it is a James Bond Walther PPK clone. It is passed time to accept the reality that some people don’t care about others. Ultimately, the protection of your family and property is your responsibility.

  3. Yes Hope… I believe an honest and objective look at their policies, and an unadulterated view of their agenda objectives, one can only conclude that along with their clear and present disdain for our freedoms and liberties protected by our Constitution… they are indeed anti-America, anti-Republic, and anti-Democracy.

Do I “hate” them; no… but I do pity and pray for them. And more importantly, I pray that our Republic can withstand and overcome their attempts at tyrannical control.

  4. 100% agree with Pat A. In the Marxicrat world, the criminal rules… and the tax paying law-abiding citizens are on their own. Each and every one of us have a responsibility – nay; the Constitutional duty – to do what is necessary to protect ourselves, our family, and our property. It is the naïve who think otherwise… for they will easily fall victim of Marxicrat Tyranny.

  5. You are better off learning about Florida’s Stand Your Ground Law and buying a concealable pistol. Today’s gangster has no fear of criminal charges, jail or prison. The hip hop group N.W.A. said it best, “…we ain’t axing no one for anything, we’re taking it”. Your life means nothing to today’s criminal. BTW, Tauris sells a real nice and concealable revolver in .38 cal. When seconds count, the cops are minutes away. Better judged by 12 than carried by 6.

  6. With the rise in Shooting over the last Year, tell me again why Stop & Frisk and Stop & Search in the High Crime areas are a bad thing?

  7. Running down to the Buffalo Pool Party (at taxpayers expense), constant ad nauseam self-promoting on WCOT, significant pay raises to top-tier city employees, airport publicity stunts, special interests, beating it down to Orlando to see Kamala, and on and on and on take precedent over the crime crisis.

  8. Deep Six,
The people of Tallahassee have voted for this as acceptable, and their voices are being heard.
I can’t understand why the Progress(ives) continues in this direction but we could be like Portland if we don’t change. I would love to see ALL demographics safe in Tallahassee. How bad does this have to get?

  9. Everything is getting worse. What happens on Wannish Way, stays on Wannish Way…if it happened on Killearney Way, we’d have a month’s worth of hand wringing stories in both papers.

  10. The shootout needs an article all its own as it is a serious matter. We have two city commissioners who live in that neighborhood if I am not mistaken and the mayor who is part of their tag team.

I have to say that the longest serving threesome have not been able to get a grip on the crime crisis. That is just a fact.

Every step they have taken has not helped; in fact they take one step forward and three steps back. It’s going to take a new city manager. Is Rudy Giuliani available?
