BREAKING: FSU responds to critical report related to DEI programs, indicates a number of the programs have been discontinued. Get the details.

Starting in the new school year, all students at Nims Middle School will be required to abide by the new uniform policy which includes, yellow, black or white polo shirts which must be tucked into bottoms (shorts, pants or skirts) which should be black or khaki. 

After a story by Tallahassee Reports, Leon County School Superintendent Rocky Hanna told The Florida Standard that messages on a bulletin board at Rickards High School were removed because the content violated school board policy.

Yesterday, TPD responded to an armed robbery at a Walgreens at the intersection of North Monroe Street and John Knox Road. The armed robbery occurred at approximately 8:00 a.m. An accurate depiction of the suspect has not been released yet and the weapon has not yet been determined. No injuries occurred as a result of the incident.

TPD also investigated a stabbing that occurred at a Tallahassee homeless encampment Wednesday afternoon. The incident occurred at the 3500 block of Apalachee Parkway. A man and a woman allegedly got into an argument and the woman stabbed the man. The woman was arrested and charged with aggravated assault. The man’s injuries were not life threatening.

After Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis rejected an AP African American history course, College Board has rewritten the curriculum and removed the subject matter related to the topics that drew the ire of the governor like black “queerness” and “feminism.” However, College Board did opt to include a subject topic not previously included: “Black conservatism.”

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis also announced that a bill is currently being crafted by Florida Lawmakers to usher in a state takeover of Walt Disney World’s Reedy Creek special district. Few details were added, but DeSantis said, “We’re not going to have a corporation controlling its own government.” He continued by saying, “I’d rather it be the local (governments), but I don’t think that they’re prepared for it.”

SPORTS NEWS

FSU women’s basketball got a blowout win over the Wake Forest Demon Deacons 72-44 last night. Ta’Niya Latson had another terrific night scoring 19 points and shooting over 50 percent while also making her presence felt on the defensive side with three steals and two blocks. It is the Noles’ 20th win of the year.

FSU men’s basketball travels to Louisville, KY to take on the Louisville Cardinals tomorrow afternoon at 2:00 p.m. The Cardinals only have one win in ACC play and are 3-19 overall while the Noles will be seeking their sixth win in-conference. The game will be broadcast on ESPN2.

  2. Where is Ben Crump, ambulence chaser extraordinare? He should haul a#$ to the Quincy Court House today to witness another black youth be sent to prison for premeditated murder. At age 23, and a life of crime, the black man is going away for a very long time. Sooner or later you realize the black community’s crime and incarceration rate is getting worse.

    What to hear something scary? Florida Senate President K. Passidoma wants to build low-income housing in your neighborhood. She wants us all to share in the out of control crime previously reserved for the Talley’s southside and western Gadsden County.
