Sarah Hembree, a principal at Leon County’s Cobb middle school, recently addressed the controversy over the Parental Rights in Education legislation and the role of parents in education in a Facebook post. Hembree wrote that teachers “want to decide what they teach in their classroom based on the needs of the students in front of them.”

Tallahassee Reports has learned that in a meeting on Thursday night the current owners of the Killearn Country Club have given the go-ahead to sell the club to Atlanta Ventures, a business that invests in start-up companies. David Cummings, who is the founder and partner of Atlanta Ventures, is described as an Atlanta-based tech entrepreneur who has founded 10 companies collectively valued at nearly $1 billion.
Progressive Movement Plans Takeover of City Hall
A group of progressive activists – led by current Tallahassee City Commissioners Jeremy Matlow and Jack Porter- are working to take control of the city commission and to expand their influence over local government with significant financial help from a progressive group located in Palo Alto, California.
Tallahassee Hit by Two Shootings, Two Deaths in Less than 12 Hours
In a span of less than 12 hours, two separate shooting incidents in Tallahassee on Thursday evening and Friday night has resulted in two deaths. The Leon County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO) and the Tallahassee Police Department (TPD) are investigating the unrelated shootings. The first shooting happened Thursday, January 6, 2022, around 5 p.m. at Circle K near the intersection of Bannerman and Thomasville Road.
Report: Andrew Gillum to be Indicted at 1pm Today
NBC’s Marc Caputo is reporting that Andrew Gillum surrendered at 10 am today to federal authorities and a Gillum indictment is expected to be
unsealed at 1 pm. Caputo reports that the exact charges are unclear and the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Florida would neither confirm nor deny details about the criminal case against Gillum.
State campaign records show that a progressive group based in California -led by former Bernie Sanders campaign employees – is financing the efforts of campaign consultant Max Herrle who is helping the Adner Marcelin Tallahassee City Commission.
Herrle is a former local lobbyist who has close ties with City Commissioner Jack Porter and Jeremy Matlow. Tallahassee Report recently published a story documenting how City Commissioners Jeremy Matlow and Jack Porter are working to defeat their colleague, City Commissioner Dianne Williams-Cox.
Opportunities Land at Tallahassee Airport
On Wednesday, June 22nd, the Tallahassee City Commission heard a brief presentation from Tallahassee Airport Executive Director David Pollard related to two private investment projects seeking to conduct business at the Tallahassee airport. According to estimates, the proposed projects could generate $145 million in private investment and create over 1,500 jobs.
